The final episode of Peacemaker Season 2 will feature several different alternate realities – and based on the trailer for Episode 8, the DCU might be introducing a storyline similar to Marvel Zombies.
The Quantum Unfolding Chamber contains at least 100 different universes. So far, our explorations have revealed a universe inhabited by an alien species that doesn’t communicate with language, and another where the Nazis were victorious in World War II. It’s a truly remarkable discovery.
Following the events of Episode 7, Rick Flag and his team now have Peacemaker’s portal to other dimensions. This likely foreshadows the story of Man of Tomorrow, and we can expect to see several more alternate worlds during the Season 2 finale.
The trailer for Episode 8 hints at some unusual locations. We see one world filled with enormous candy canes planted like trees, and another inhabited by giant spider-like skulls. But there’s also a quick look at a different world that comic book fans might find particularly exciting.
Peacemaker Season 2 finale trailer sets up ‘DCeased’
In the trailer for the Peacemaker Season 2 finale, at the 0:21 mark, you can see two figures in red hazmat suits being pulled back into the QUC. It looks like they’re being pursued by something-or someone-making scary, monster-like noises, and there’s also a fire nearby. It’s a pretty intense scene!
It’s important to remember this is just a theory, as other possibilities exist, but many fans think this storyline might be based on the 2019 DCeased comic book event.
As a huge DC fan, I remember reading that in the comics, Darkseid actually kidnaps Cyborg! He’s trying to get the Anti-Life Equation *from* Cyborg’s body, which is pretty intense. But here’s the crazy part: it doesn’t go as planned. Instead, it accidentally creates this virus that turns people into zombies – they call them the Anti-Living. It’s really scary because several DC characters actually end up getting infected!
If this happens, we might see some characters from the DC Universe make appearances as zombies. It’s also interesting to note that James Gunn wrote the 2004 remake of Dawn of the Dead (directed by Zack Snyder) early in his career, making this a potentially satisfying creative return for him.
One user exclaimed, “DCeased is literally my favorite storyline, I would go crazy!” Another commented, “Marvel Zombies has had its moment, now it’s time for DCeased to shine.”
Honestly, if I ever get to see a live-action version of DCeased, I’d be completely blown away! One person wrote that they’d “go nuts,” and I totally get it. Another fan pointed out that with Earth X and now DCeased being hinted at, James Gunn is really bringing some of the most terrifying Earths to life – places you *really* wouldn’t want to live in!
Until next week, explore more about Van Kull, stay updated on the Peacemaker Season 2 soundtrack, and discover why the original Vigilante was recast.
