As a film enthusiast who has spent countless hours immersed in the cinematic universe, I can confidently say that “Tea” is shaping up to be a must-watch short film. The talent behind this project is nothing short of impressive, with Patty Jenkins, a director whose work on “Wonder Woman” and “Monster” has left an indelible mark on the industry, lending her expertise.
Director Patty Jenkins, known for “Wonder Woman” and “Monster,” is offering her expertise to the creators of “Tea,” a quirky comedy exploring loneliness that features Michael Gandolfini (“The Many Saints of Newark,” soon to be seen in “Warfare”).
In brief, the film “Short” is written and directed by newcomer Blake Rice. It stars Gandolfini as a solitary, severely allergenic employee of Circuit-Shack who is rehearsing proposing to the girl of his dreams (Olivia Nikkanen). However, just as he asks her out, he’s stung in the throat by a hornet, triggering an anaphylactic shock. Consequently, they must find a way to communicate effectively as she frantically attempts to save his life.
Blake Rice’s short film ‘Tea’ is enchanting and unique, filled with charisma and excellent production. It’s clear that we’re dealing with an exciting new talent in the world of filmmaking,” stated Jenkins, expressing his enthusiasm about joining the production.
This past summer, the film titled “Tea” made its debut at the Cannes Film Festival as the sole U.S. entry in the short film competition. Since then, it has been chosen for ten Oscar-eligible film festivals and has collected accolades at the Charlotte, Bushwick, Micheaux, Yellowstone, Hollyshorts, and I-Fest International Film Festivals. Rice and Gandolfini received honors for exceptional writing and acting at the Micheaux Film Festival, while Gabriella Piazza, who starred with Gandolfini in “The Many Saints of Newark,” was awarded Best Producer at the Hollyshorts Film Fest. Michael Cejovic also contributed to its production.
Alongside Jenkins, Andrew Carlberg, renowned for his work as a producer on the Academy Award-winning live action short “Skin” and an Executive Producer (EP) on Oscar-nominated shorts such as “Feeling Through” and “Mutt”, has also signed on to serve as an executive producer for “Tea”.
Jenkins is managed by Creative Artists Agency (CAA), while Danny Passman at Gang Tyre Ramer Brown & Passman, Inc. handles his affairs. On the other hand, Rice is represented by Kaplan Perron.
