This special, limited-edition clothing assortment is one of many collections and merchandise launches that have been created based on the popular HBO series. Among these are a resort collection by Alex Bovaird, the show’s costume designer, for H&M. The 24-item line features foldable garments in colors inspired by Thailand, such as turquoise, navy, red, and yellow, along with graphic patterns, bold prints, and flowing shapes.

According to Schwarzenegger, it’s an ideal time for a spring and summer getaway, as he shares that he donned a vintage Banana Republic suit from the ’90s for the Los Angeles premiere of the show, in conversation with EbMaster.

Meena Anvary, head of marketing for Banana Republic, declared in a statement that our brand’s history, steeped in travel, intertwines with the universe of ‘The White Lotus,’ creating a carefully designed collection that is both inspiring and within reach. This assortment exudes an air of discovery and humor through a high-quality perspective. It showcases tropical and vintage-inspired patterns from our storied archives, as well as the landscapes of Thailand, encapsulating the essence of exploration.

In the passage below, the performer discusses traveling light with only a carry-on bag during his seven-month stint on “White Lotus” in Thailand. He also shares a cherished hand-me-down item from his father, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and explains his hesitancy towards modeling.

The actor talks about how he only took a carry-on bag for the seven months he worked on “White Lotus” in Thailand. He mentions that one of his favorite items is a hand-me-down from his father, Arnold Schwarzenegger. Furthermore, he expresses some reservations about modeling.

Do you have favorite pieces in the collection?

This location is ideal for spring and summer, making it perfect for the current season. Additionally, during the premiere in Los Angeles, I was given a custom-made suit from their early ’90s archive collections, which was quite a treat to wear. The shoot also featured an array of fantastic items, such as khaki shorts, an oversized black belt, and a shirt with a yellowish hue that caught my eye.

When you go on vacation, do you overpack or do you just bring a pair of shots, a t-shirt and call it a day?

I tend to underpack, which caused amusement among the cast and crew of “The White Lotus.” Since I only brought a few outfits for the entire seven-month shoot, it seemed everyone found it humorous. My suitcase was just packed with a handful of clothes because I thought, “It’s sunny and hot,” and then spent every day on set in my character’s wardrobe. However, I had no intention of wearing those costumes outside of work as they didn’t fit my personal style.

When it comes to vacation, are you more a beach person or mountain person or desert?

I take pleasure in both mountain landscapes and coastal scenes, but I’m more of an active individual. When my partner Abby Champion and I embark on a holiday, we prefer to engage in sightseeing adventures, go cycling or hiking, and delve deeper into new locations. Lazing around on the beach isn’t really my cup of tea.

When was the last time you went on a big vacation?

On “The White Lotus,” we had an extended break that lasted about seven months. It was a mix of hard work and fun times. We managed to do an exciting shoot for Four Seasons and with “White Lotus” in Maui for a couple of days, where they filmed the initial episode. It was wonderful to stay there for two or three extra days.

How would you describe your style?

It’s constantly evolving, which is exciting because you can always experiment with combinations and make adjustments. On the red carpet, I’ve been aiming to stand out more with suits that are slightly different yet classy, carrying an Americana vibe. For instance, the double-breasted suit from Banana Republic I wore at the premiere. It was a classy piece, but it added a touch of trendiness through its ’90s style and oversized fit.

I was going to say maybe you could wear some of your dad’s stuff from the ‘90s, but he is slightly bigger than you.

He’s handed down some neat collar shirts to me, which I still cherish. Among them, one of my most beloved pieces is an old-school Planet Hollywood button-up with a vibrant mix of colors and exciting designs. It’s very reminiscent of the ’90s, and I absolutely adore it.

Are you comfortable modeling?

During the photo shoot for Banana Republic, the photographer approached me and inquired, “Aren’t you uneasy during these shoots?” I’ve noticed that many actors I’ve collaborated with share similar feelings. It seems we find more comfort in embodying a character rather than being ourselves. However, Banana Republic was an exception. They made the experience incredibly enjoyable, and we had a fantastic time.

What’s more uncomfortable — modeling or stripping down to nothing on “The White Lotus?”

They kind of go hand-in-hand.

The Q&A was edited for length and clarity.
