Path of Exile 2: The Last of the Druids update launches today, free weekend live until December 15

Grinding Gear Games is launching a big new update for Path of Exile 2, called The Last Druids, today. To celebrate, the game is also free to play on all platforms for a limited time.

A free weekend for Path of Exile begins later today and lasts until December 15th at 8 PM Central European Time on all platforms. Path of Exile 2 Early Access is currently available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (through Steam, Epic Games Store, and the standalone client). I’m so hyped! Path of Exile 2’s latest update, ‘The Last of the Druids,’ is dropping this weekend! They’re adding a really cool new class that lets you shapeshift, and a league where you can actually build your own dungeons. Plus, there’s a brand new, super tough endgame boss to test your skills. The best part? You can play the whole campaign for free from December 12th at 8 PM CET to December 15th at 8 PM CET on PC, Steam, PlayStation, Xbox, and the Epic Games Store. Shapeshift Into Power

The Druid class offers three powerful forms and uses Talismans to harness Draiocht, allowing them to transform into different shapes.

  • Wolf: Freeze enemies and lead a deadly pack

  • Bear: Build Rage and Maul everything in your path

  • Wyvern: Take flight and unleash lightning, fire, and aerial devastation.

Take on the power of nature – summon devastating storms, erupting volcanoes, and constricting roots – all enhanced by the new Spell Totem ability.

Pick between two Druid Ascendancies, which are: 

  • The Shaman is a powerful class that uses Rage to boost their elemental attacks. They can fine-tune their abilities with ancient Runes and Idols, and unleash devastating multi-elemental storms as the Bringer of the Apocalypse.

  • The Oracle excels at predicting what enemies will do, boosting damage from skills. It cleverly blends future and present moments with its ‘Moment of Vulnerability’ ability, and unlocks over 130 new passive abilities – including special skills like ‘Self-Sacrificing’ and ‘Corruption Endures’.

We’ve significantly improved gameplay with a major rebalance and the addition of over 30 new Support Gems, including several from new Lineage types. This expands build options considerably. Rewrite The Past – The Fate of the Vaal League

Build and customize temples to fight against Vaal’s evil influence. You’ll need to defeat the Royal Architect and ultimately face Queen Atziri, a challenging new boss. Players can design their own temple layouts, unlock more than a dozen different room types, and discover new ways to craft items using Vaal power.

  • Juatalotli’s Triumph: Alters corrupted Vaal Unique items.

  • Precursor Machine: Corrupts Tablets using ancient energy.

  • Jiquani’s Triumph: Distorts Soul Cores.

  • Kishara’s Acquisition: Attempts to salvage socketables from equipment.

Beating Atziri gives you Atziri’s Rule, a powerful staff. This staff boosts the level of your corrupted gems, lets you sacrifice life for extra damage, and creates special effects that turn projectiles into massive explosions.

The Abyssal mechanics are here to stay! We’ve made several improvements, including permanent Atlas Passives and upgradeable Tablets, and removed Abyssal crafting and Instilling from Waystones to make things smoother. Defeating the Arbiter of Ash will now allow you to upgrade your Tablets to Rare tier, making them even more powerful.
