In Path of Exile 2, a multitude of minor items are available that can significantly enhance your character. Items like Orbs of Augmentation or runes for each element offer either small or substantial boosts to various aspects of your equipment. While elevating the rarity of your gear is one effective method, you can transform ordinary items into magical ones using Orbs of Transmutation at the onset of Path of Exile 2. As you progress through mid and late-game stages, it’s advisable to utilize Regal Orbs instead, as they convert magic items into rare ones.
How to find Regal Orbs in Path of Exile 2
In Path of Exile 2, there are two methods for obtaining a Regal Orb:
In the game Path of Exile 2, you stand a better chance of finding a Regal Orb when defeating a story boss compared to other situations, since these bosses have a higher probability of dropping one. Additionally, they may also drop Uncut Skill Gems and Uncut Spirit Gems. However, keep in mind that the odds are still relatively low because Regal Orbs are primarily obtained through alternative means.
Another method to acquire a Regal Orb is by gathering ten Regal Shards. Although Regal Shards drop more frequently than Regal Orbs, it’s because they don’t serve any purpose individually. Instead, when you have a stack of ten Regal Shards, the game automatically creates a Regal Orb and adds it to your inventory for you. You can find both Regal Shards and Regal Orbs in similar ways – by finding them as loot on defeated enemies or inside chests.
You might encounter more Regal Shards than complete orbs during your gameplay, but don’t anticipate amassing a large number until you reach Act 3. In my gaming experience up to now, which includes Act 2 on Cruel difficulty, I’ve only managed to find five Regal Shards. However, I’ve discovered two full Regal Orbs as well. Keep in mind that this is just my personal experience.
How to use Regal Orbs
Should you stumble upon 10 Regal Shards or a Regal Orb, utilizing them is straightforward. Just navigate to your inventory, click on the orb, and then identify an enchanted item you wish to enhance. Enchanted items are the blue equipment pieces, while rare ones are the yellow equipment pieces.
