As a die-hard film enthusiast, let me share my own words about the creation of the captivating southern drawl I portrayed as Violet Ratliff in the buzzing third season of “The White Lotus.” To bring this character to life authentically, I immersed myself in regional dialects and drew inspiration from real-life individuals I’ve encountered throughout my travels. This helped me capture the essence of Violet’s unique personality and make her a truly memorable part of the show.

Violet, played by Jason Isaacs, is the head of a prosperous North Carolina family who is enjoying their vacation at an upscale Thai resort along with her husband and their three kids – Patrick Schwarzenegger, Sam Nivola, and Sarah Catherine Hook. Instead of popping pills, she’s taking advantage of the luxurious setting to unwind.

Posey admits that her over-the-top accent originated from her childhood in Mississippi and also the book “The Official Preppy Handbook.” She explained, “Have you ever heard of James Spader? The snooty guy was my inspiration. I aimed to create a snobbish tone.” At the series’ Season 3 premiere in Los Angeles, she further shared, “I’ve encountered some genuinely wealthy individuals and Southerners who affected their manners, so that’s what I imitated.

She added, “Playing it was simply delightful. The theatrics were reminiscent of Southerners. Being from the South myself, I felt joyful to infuse that Tennessee Williams-esque intensity, ‘Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.’ It’s just such an evocative character. It was a fantastic experience.”

Posey discussed collaborating with Blackpink’s Lisa, who is set to act in “The White Lotus” as a hotel staff member. Posey confessed that she wasn’t previously acquainted with the singer prior to their work together. “I hadn’t met her before, but the Four Seasons butlers were taken aback. They were saying, ‘If only I could catch a glimpse of Lisa,'” Posey shared.

Toward the conclusion of filming, Parker and his co-star Natasha Rothwell dined with some staff members who were butlers. It so happened that Lisa was having a massage at the time.
