Before her eagerly awaited appearance at “The White Lotus,” Parker Posey has agreed to take a role in the upcoming movie of Martin McDonagh, titled “Wild Horse Nine.
In a previous announcement, Sam Rockwell – winner of the Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his work in “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri” with McDonagh in 2017 – will be joined by Posey in the movie’s cast. John Malkovich and Mark Ruffalo are also part of the talented ensemble.
After collaborating on the 2022 film “The Banshees of Inisherin,” Martin McDonagh has reconnected with Searchlight Pictures, Blueprint Pictures, and Film4 for another project. This dark comedy garnered nine Oscar nominations, including a nod for Best Picture, as well as recognitions in the categories of directing and screenplay for McDonagh himself.
I, as one of the enthusiastic supporters behind the scenes, am involved in the creation of “Wild Horse Nine,” penned by McDonagh himself. While we’re tight-lipped about the plot details, rest assured that more casting announcements are on the horizon. The filming will commence next month on Rapa Nui, also known as Easter Island, a unique Chilean wildlife sanctuary renowned for its breathtaking cultural landscapes and its status as the most isolated inhabited island globally.
The initiative debuted at AFM in 2021, with Searchlight acquiring the rights to a premium collection, featuring Rockwell as the lead actor alongside Oscar Isaac and Christopher Walken. (However, both Isaac and Walken are no longer part of the project.) Taylor Friedman, who serves as SVP of production, and Peter Spencer, director of development and production, are responsible for this venture at Searchlight, answering to Katie Goodson-Thomas and DanTram Nguyen, who head production and development.
Constantly stealing the spotlight, Posey has been securing noteworthy roles across both film and television of late. Among these recent projects is “The White Lotus,” set to premiere its third season on February 16. Apart from this, Posey made a guest appearance in Amazon’s “Mr. & Mrs. Smith” series and earned her first Emmy nomination for her performance. She also shared the screen with June Squibb in the highly-praised indie film “Thelma,” as well as appearing alongside Joaquin Phoenix in Ari Aster’s “Beau is Afraid.” On stage, Posey recently graced the off-Broadway stage for The New Group’s production of “The Seagull/Woodstock, NY.” She is represented by CAA.
