A popular supernatural mystery series is back, and it’s quickly become a big hit on Paramount+. While Paramount+ is well-known for shows like those in Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone universe, the streaming service actually offers a wide range of content, including several dark and intriguing series, and isn’t limited to just Westerns.
As a big fan of darker shows, I’ve been enjoying a lot of what Paramount+ has been putting out – things like the return of Dexter, that gritty MobLand series with Tom Hardy, Mayor of Kingstown, and Tulsa King. But one of their really intense shows just came back after a year-long break with a fresh batch of episodes, and it’s already a hit! Seriously, it only launched yesterday and it’s shooting up the charts – it’s a supernatural thriller that runs for three seasons, and I’m hooked!
As of today, School Spirits is the sixth most popular show on Paramount+ in the US. The series, which premiered in 2023, follows Maddie Nears (played by Peyton List) as she investigates her own potential murder after becoming a ghost at Split River High School.
I was so excited when School Spirits came back on January 28th with three new episodes! And the best part? New episodes will be released every Wednesday on Paramount+. I’ve been checking the charts, and it’s awesome to see School Spirits doing so well – it’s actually higher on the Top Ten list than shows like Criminal Minds: Evolution and Tulsa King! Of course, South Park, SpongeBob SquarePants, and Landman are still at the very top, but it’s great to see my favorite supernatural series getting some recognition.
Worldwide, the supernatural drama is performing well, currently ranking as the 7th most-watched show on Paramount+, according to FlixPatrol. It’s behind three popular series created by Taylor Sheridan: Tulsa King, Landman, and Yellowstone. The show reached the top spot in Italy, becoming the #1 most-watched series there.
The Paramount+ series School Spirits is currently popular in 24 countries, including the U.S. Although the Rotten Tomatoes score for season 3 isn’t available yet, the show generally receives good reviews. The first two seasons have a 91% rating from critics and an even higher 92% audience score, showing that viewers and critics alike have really enjoyed it.
Cher Thompson at ScreenRant gave Season 3 of School Spirits a 9/10 rating, calling it a game-changer that sets a new direction for the show. While there’s no news yet about a fourth season, the show’s strong start suggests a positive outlook for its future.
