Paramount Global Announces Participants for 2025 Writers Mentoring Program (EXCLUSIVE)

For the upcoming Paramount Writers Mentoring Program in 2025, Paramount Global has selected five writers: Patty Chavez, Rebekah Mueller, Lauren Muñoz Robinson, Luísa Parnes, and Carla Olivia Torres. These individuals will participate in the 21st iteration of the program.

The Primary Office of Universal Inclusion manages the program, providing guidance, career advancement chances, and access to key figures in the television industry for budding writers. Each writer is partnered with two executives from CBS network and CBS Studios for frequent meetings and constructive criticism on their work. Interactive sessions with showrunners, executive producers, agents, and managers will enable participants to form valuable professional connections for their careers.

This year’s group of mentors include:

  • Julia Behr, VP of current programming at CBS
  • Victoria Vargas, director of current programming at CBS
  • Marci Cooperstein, SVP of current programming at CBS
  • Sam Campos, VP of drama development at CBS Studios
  • Amanda Palley, SVP of current programming at CBS
  • Rob Luchow, SVP of drama development at CBS Studios
  • Carly Berg, director of comedy development at CBS
  • Sean Kotzin, VP of comedy and animation development at CBS Studios
  • Ariel Joseph, VP of current programming at CBS
  • Michael Kaplan, VP of comedy development at CBS

From over 2,000 applications, this year’s participants were narrowed down to five successful candidates. Among these selected writers, they boast an impressive resume that features credits in shows such as “The Penguin,” “The Terminal List,” “NCIS: Origins,” “What Drives Us,” “Grand Crew,” “Acapulco,” “Dexter: Original Sin” and the GLAAD-nominated series “September Mornings.”

This year’s participants were chosen from a pool of over 2,000 applicants. Out of these five selected writers, they have an impressive background in projects like “The Penguin,” “The Terminal List,” “NCIS: Origins,” “What Drives Us,” “Grand Crew,” “Acapulco,” “Dexter: Original Sin” and the GLAAD-nominated series “September Mornings.

Tiffany Smith-Anoa’i, executive vice president and interim head of global inclusion at Paramount, praised the Paramount Writers Mentoring Program as outstanding and highly esteemed, not just within our company but across the entire industry. She highlighted the strong network of dedicated alumni and the passionate leaders at Paramount who are united in their efforts to nurture writing talent.

Previous program attendees who have since achieved successful careers are people like Angela Kang, known for her work on “The Walking Dead”, Aaron Rahsaan Thomas of “S.W.A.T.”, Miranda Kwok from “The Cleaning Lady”, Lauren LeFranc of “The Penguin”, Gina Lucita Monreal on “NCIS: Origins”, Leonard Chang with “Snowfall” and Zahir McGhee in “Queens”.
