Paradox promises fans that the new Crusader Kings 3 DLC will launch without issues

As a big Crusader Kings 3 player, I’m honestly a little worried about the new ‘All Under Heaven’ expansion. It sounds amazing – a massive new map and things like the Silk Road! – but it’s also supposed to be the *biggest* expansion yet. That makes me nervous, because Paradox has had a few rough launches recently, and big expansions often mean a lot of bugs and performance problems. I really want to enjoy it, but I’m bracing myself for potential issues at the start.

Unlike previous projects, the developers of *All Under Heaven* promise this large new DLC will be well-optimized. They’re assuring fans that it’s progressing smoothly and will perform well on a variety of computers, both older and newer.

Because the project is growing so quickly, the developers are facing some new technical hurdles as they strive for a flawless final product.

The new content, including all of Asia, makes the game world and number of characters roughly 30-40% larger. According to Joel Hanson, Tech Director for the game, adding both East and Southeast Asia presented a significant technical challenge, as the game now needs to simulate these massive new regions alongside everything else. This DLC also includes more individual features than any previous expansion.

I was reading a really detailed post from the developers about how the new DLC is running, and it was fascinating! They knew adding Asia to *Crusader Kings 3* would probably hit performance a little, and they were right. They usually see about a 20% slowdown when new stuff isn’t fully optimized, but this time it was even bigger. Apparently, the number of rulers in the game jumped up by 32% with the new DLC, and that caused some extra challenges for them to work through. They’re actively trying to optimize everything, which is great to hear!

The team behind *All Under Heaven* says they’re putting the finishing touches on the game, just a few weeks before it launches. They’ve also reported significant performance gains after testing on different computer setups.

As the developers finalized the downloadable content for Crusader Kings 3, they updated the game’s minimum system requirements. Players will now need at least an Intel i5-750 or AMD FX-4300 processor, along with 8 GB of RAM. Previously, the game ran well on an Intel Core i3-2120 or AMD FX-6350 with only 6 GB of RAM.

We’ll see if Paradox has successfully improved performance when the new *All Under Heaven* expansion launches on PC on October 28th.
