‘Paradise’ Star Krys Marshall Teases Season 3 Following Shocking Finale

Be warned, the following contains major spoilers for the season finale of Paradise. Fans are still processing the shocking ending of Paradise Season 2, but the actors have already moved on and are preparing to begin work on Season 3. As star Krys Marshall told Deadline, they’re already starting to plan and prepare.

Marshall confessed she was incredibly anxious while reading the finale script, worried about whether her character, Secret Service Agent Nicole Robinson, would survive. Knowing the show’s creator, Dan Fogelman, isn’t afraid to kill off popular characters, she admitted that every actor feels vulnerable with each new script. She described constantly hoping her character wouldn’t be killed off while reading.

Marshall’s worry grew when she learned her character had been badly injured, but that feeling was quickly overshadowed by her joy that Agent Robinson survived. She remembers being amazed by the scene where her character seemingly came back to life and limped out of the bunker. “I was thrilled,” she said. “And then, the unexpected explosion of the bunker was a complete shock – I really didn’t see that coming.”

Now that her character is safe for the moment, actress Marshall is thinking about what’s next for Agent Robinson in Season 3 of Paradise. She couldn’t reveal any plot specifics, but she did discuss the character’s journey: how Robinson starts as someone completely focused on her work, and how that dedication to justice is challenged by the constant corruption she witnesses.

Marshall explained that her character remains committed to doing what’s right. She’s consistently guided by her strong moral compass. In Season 3, the show explores this further, showing what it looks like to be someone who completely distrusts authority and believes the system is broken. It delves into how someone like that would navigate the world and try to bring about change.

Experiencing that much disappointment could easily throw someone off balance, but Marshall pointed out that her character is exceptionally strong. She explained, “Agent Robinson is incredibly capable, and she truly comes into her own in Season 3.” Marshall admitted she’s always found the character intimidating, but now finds her genuinely frightening.

Marshall has a much lighter role coming up in Toy Story 5, where she’ll be the voice of a child’s mother. She jokingly said she got the part by sending a very enthusiastic email to director Andrew Stanton, whom she knows from working on For All Mankind. She also revealed that the new Toy Story movie will explore how technology is impacting kids today.

Marshall described the story as beautiful, explaining that it highlights the contrast between aging toys losing their appeal and the growing influence of technology. However, he believes that nothing can truly replace the power of human imagination, and that will always be the most important thing.
