Nintendo recently announced a relaxed, cozy Pokémon game called Pokémon Pokopia. Now, the creators of Palworld, Pocketpair, have revealed their own similar game, a spin-off called Palworld: Palfarm, focusing on a cozy and relaxed experience.
Similar to games like Pokemon and Palcopia, Palfarm lets you collect friendly creatures called Pals who help you run a farm. They assist with everything from planting and harvesting crops to cooking and selling your produce, and each Pal has unique skills that make farm life easier.
Despite its charming appearance, the game seems to have a darker side. The developers have confirmed that some creatures, called Pals, will actually attack player-built settlements. Plus, the game’s trailer showed a disturbing scene of a shopkeeper handling a weapon that’s far more violent than anything you’d see in Pokemon.
You can now add Palworld: Palfarm to your Steam wishlist. However, there’s no word yet on whether it will be released on consoles, and the game doesn’t have a confirmed release date.
Nintendo is continuing its legal fight against Pocketpair, the creators of Palworld, focusing on how similar the game is to Pokemon. Pocketpair has already removed some features Nintendo flagged as problematic. Now, Nintendo is also claiming that Palworld violates a patent covering a core gameplay element: the ability to summon characters to battle each other in a video game.
In the ongoing legal dispute, Nintendo has stated that modifications (mods) shouldn’t be considered games or existing technology that could impact their claims. Despite no resolution yet, Palworld’s developer, Pocketpair, is planning a series of significant updates scheduled for release in 2026.
