Palestinian Refugee Drama ‘To a Land Unknown’ Sells to 40 Territories Ahead of U.K., Ireland Release (EXCLUSIVE)

As an admirer, I’m thrilled to share that Salaud Morisset, a sales and production house based in both Paris and Berlin, has successfully sold “To a Land Unknown,” a powerful Palestinian refugee drama directed by Mahdi Fleifel, to 40 different territories. This compelling film, which had its premiere at Cannes Directors’ Fortnight, will be released in the United Kingdom and Ireland starting this Friday. I can hardly wait!

Salaud Morisset has recently sealed agreements with Imovision (Brazil), Vertigo Media (Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovakia), Joint Entertainment (Taiwan), Real Fiction (Germany), Five Stars (Ex-Yugoslavia), Filmtrade (Greece), Filmladen (Austria), Filmin (Spain), The Stone & The Plot (Portugal), and Falcon Pictures (Indonesia).

In the past, I’ve been thrilled to announce partnerships with some remarkable companies like Conic (based in the U.K.), Wildcard hailing from Ireland, Eurozoom from France, Watermelon Pictures spanning across the U.S. and Canada, and Film Clinic serving the Arab territories.

The film titled ‘To a Land Unknown’ has been showcased in over 100 international film festivals such as San Sebastian, Toronto, London, Thessaloniki, New Horizons, and Sarajevo, and it garnered more than 20 awards.

The movie narrates the struggle of two Palestinian cousins, Chatila and Reda, who are stuck in Athens and trying desperately to reach Germany. In order to escape from Athens, they are saving money for fraudulent passports. Unfortunately, Reda squanders their savings on drugs, leaving them in a tight spot. Desperate to save his cousin and friend from their dire circumstances, Chatila comes up with an extreme plan. This involves the two of them pretending to be smugglers and taking hostages as a means to escape their hopeless situation before it’s too late.

The film titled ‘To a Land Unknown’ is created by Geoff Arbourne from Inside Out Films, in collaboration with Nakba FilmWorks (Fleifel), Salaud Morisset, Maria Drandaki from Homemade Films, and Layla Meijman and Maarten van der Ven at Studio Ruba.
