The film Society of the Snow has struck a successful balance between critical acclaim and audience appeal. It’s become the second most-watched non-English film on the streaming service, surpassed only by Troll, racking up 103 million views within months of its January 2023 release. Critics have also praised the film, giving it a 90% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. J.A. Bayona’s thriller even received two Oscar nominations, for Best Makeup and Best International Film.

Let’s not dwell on Santos’ struggles too much right now – she’s clearly having a difficult time. It’s becoming obvious that her defensive and sometimes harsh reactions are how she deals with stress. She’s complaining to everyone – even her boss – about Dr. Al-Hashimi because Dr. Al just reminded her about incomplete charting and hinted that falling behind could mean repeating her residency year. This warning really throws Santos off her game for the rest of the hour.

Instead, she’s focused on Yam Yam, Kristen, and Natalie, who are all close by, and she’s planning to act quickly. This is where Lisa Rinna’s acting skills become apparent – after all, she’s a professional soap opera actress, so her dramatic performance isn’t surprising. She pretends to struggle with her brooch, exclaiming, “Ow, ow, oh shit, it’s open! Will you just put it in?” This gets one of the others to help her, and in the process, someone is murdered. It’s a clever killing done right in front of everyone, and she managed to pull it off without even needing a distraction like a conga line!

In season 2, episode 4 of The Pitt, Dr. Santos (Isa Briones) shared that Whitaker has been spending time at a farm with a woman he’s met – the widow of a patient from season 1. This potential romance is significant, not just because Whitaker is a fan-favorite character, but because the relationship is mysterious and could be problematic, making it a storyline worth exploring.
