In simpler terms, the main character in Time Stranger is an adult spy delving into mysterious Digimon occurrences. I began my game at the story’s outset, where we witness the Digital World impacting our real world. You can decide whether the protagonist is male or female, and their partner – a character in the game – interacts with you via a small hologram. The opening scene establishes the conflict between these two worlds, featuring conversations among ordinary people about unusual events and protests alleging officials for keeping secrets hidden.

Typically, I tend to avoid writing multiple previews for games I’m excited about, as I believe it’s more appropriate to save my personal insights until the official release. I also aim to minimize spoilers not just for myself, but for others as well. Instead of a potential written preview that could reveal story details, I thought it would be more beneficial to share a wealth of new information about Digimon Story: Time Stranger, having had a firsthand look. Intrigued by what I discovered, I decided to write a separate article focusing solely on the Digivolution system in Time Stranger.

In the current version of Time Stranger, Digivolutions can occur outside of combat without needing a specific location such as the DigiLab, unlike previous Cyber Sleuth games. If you haven’t encountered or developed a certain Digimon before, their Digivolution and De-Digivolutions will be shown as silhouettes, but the game will provide you with the necessary requirements to achieve them. These basic requirements typically include reaching a specific Agent Rank and meeting certain stat thresholds. It appears that Agent Rank can increase through main story progression and potentially side quests, although I wasn’t able to confirm this during my playtime.

1) To take on foes in Cronos, it’s wiser to engage from afar using Charged Shots for maximum damage and ammo conservation. Melee combat, under normal circumstances, is not advisable – monsters barely sustain any harm and their attacks can’t be stopped. Also, the developers haven’t implemented dodge or parry mechanics. In a close-quarter situation, self-defense becomes challenging as you could easily get hurt. The Traveler might also fall victim to a monster, triggering a Quick Time Event (QTE) where you must swiftly press a button repeatedly.

If you’ve ventured through Inazuma’s islands, you’ve likely come across Yae Miko, a mysterious yet clever figure. As a 5-star Electro Catalyst character, she brings both power and narrative significance to your squad. Yae Miko plays a key role in the region’s storyline, serving as the chief priestess of the Grand Narukami Shrine and being the proprietor of the Yae Publishing House. Known for her quick intellect, mischievous demeanor, and wisdom hidden beneath a coy grin, she also hails from an ancient kitsune lineage which grants her a distinct worldview. Her ties to the divine, especially the Raiden Shogun, make her a valuable ally and someone you wouldn’t want to challenge.
