I distinctly remember seeing Finding Nemo for the first time, though I probably saw another movie before that-it might have been The Incredibles. I watched Finding Nemo again not long ago, and it really holds up-it’s a fantastic film.
Pillion, which received the Best Screenplay award at Cannes in the Un Certain Regard section, centers on Colin, portrayed by Harry Potter’s Harry Melling, and his developing relationship with Ray (Skarsgård). Ray is the head of a motorcycle club and expects complete obedience from those around him. In the trailer, someone questions Colin about Ray, to which he responds, “I have a talent for being devoted.” Skarsgård partially made the film to offer a more accurate portrayal of the gay leather community, countering how it’s been shown in the past. He explained, “I often saw it depicted through Cruising, which presented it as a dangerous and frightening part of New York City. It suggested leather gays were scary. I’m not like Ray, but I have some personal experience with that world, and I know that’s not an accurate representation.” Absolutely, Skarsgård! We’re eager to hear more, and this film has the potential to be very successful.
