Sergei Eisenstein’s 1925 film commemorates the twentieth anniversary of the Russian Revolution and was itself a groundbreaking work. It transformed filmmaking with its innovative use of montage – a technique that powerfully communicates ideas and feelings, rather than simply showing events. The film’s strong political message was so impactful that several governments banned or censored it, worried it would encourage rebellion.

After the success of Knives Out, Glass Onion brought back detective Benoit Blanc in 2022 to solve another mystery with a new cast. The third film in the series, Wake Up Dead Man, is now streaming on Netflix and has quickly become one of the platform’s most popular titles.

Musical episodes aren’t uncommon on TV, but this was a first for the ambitious Arrowverse. It felt a bit different from the usual superhero stories being told within that shared universe. However, given the number of cast members who could actually sing, it made a certain amount of sense.

Despite being only six episodes long, Heated Rivalry does a great job of covering all the important storylines from Reid’s book. The episodes are well-structured, making it easy to follow the ten-year relationship between Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov. The show also finds time to explore the connection between Scott Hunter and Kip Grady. Even more remarkably, it hints at a compelling future plot that isn’t fully developed in the books themselves.

Movies that successfully blend humor and heartfelt moments are increasingly popular. Pure comedies aren’t as guaranteed to succeed in theaters anymore—over-the-top comedy now often does better as live stand-up. However, films with a more subtle and balanced approach can appeal to fans of independent and artistic films, and they can often be made for a lower cost than big-budget studio comedies.
