Streaming services are now surpassing traditional movie theaters in popularity. FlixPatrol data shows a shift in where people are watching content.

After a tough economic period in the 1970s, people had more money to spend on entertainment like movies, leading to many successful films. Surprisingly, the rise of VHS and other home video options didn’t hurt ticket sales – in fact, they continued to climb throughout the 80s, thanks in part to the kinds of movies Hollywood began producing.

Mushka is a short animated film created with hand-drawn techniques, directed by Andreas Deja, a veteran animator from Disney. It became available on streaming services around the world on December 15, 2025.

The ending of Home Alone (available on Disney+) is famously heartwarming, showing Kate McCallister returning home to a relieved Kevin, quickly followed by the rest of the family. However, Saturday Night Live offered a very different take on that scene. Their sketch replaces the joyful reunion with unexpectedly adult humor. I first discovered Something Is Killing The Children as a comic book series, and it quickly became a favorite! Created by James Tynion IV and Werther Dell’Edera and published by BOOM! Studios, it really took off and gained a huge following. Now, it’s fantastic that the story is available in these beautiful graphic novel collections, an omnibus edition, and even an art book – it’s amazing to see how much it’s grown!

Walker Scobell is a new addition to the cast and will be acting with his father, Bill Pullman, who famously played Lone Starr. Scobell recently shared his excitement about the project with People magazine, calling it a “dream come true.”

I’ve noticed a lot of people think of dystopian stories as just bleak science fiction, but that’s not quite right. While a lot of them are sci-fi, a show doesn’t have to be about spaceships and technology to fall into that category. What really strikes me about the best dystopian thrillers on TV is that the biggest threats aren’t usually invaders from outer space, rogue robots, or anything supernatural. It’s almost always…us. Humanity itself is the villain, and that’s what makes it so unsettling – whether it’s a sudden loss of individual thought or our complete dependence on technology.
