Starting November 1st, you can watch Face/Off for free on Tubi, which features ads. This 1997 action movie, directed by John Woo, stars John Travolta as FBI agent Sean Archer. Archer successfully captures the man who killed his son, Castor Troy (Nicolas Cage). However, when Archer learns about a bomb threat in Los Angeles, he undergoes a risky surgery to switch faces with Troy, allowing him to go undercover in prison. Meanwhile, the real Troy wakes up wearing Archer’s face and begins to infiltrate his life.

The most memorable horror films tap into universal fears, and even with all the changes in the world, what truly scares us hasn’t changed much. Looking back over the last hundred years of horror, it’s clear that no matter how much the world evolves, our deepest fear will always stay with us.

Most people working on this 1978 horror film considered it a low-budget, exploitative movie, but John Carpenter’s skilled direction ended up defining the slasher genre. Despite its success, Carpenter wasn’t interested in continuing the Halloween series—though he did help produce the first two sequels—and wanted to explore different types of films.

Released in 1967, The One-Armed Swordsman was a groundbreaking kung fu film and a major hit from Shaw Brothers, the studio famous for classic martial arts movies. Directed by Chang Cheh and starring Jimmy Wang Yu, a leading actor of the time, the film helped shape the sword-fighting genre while it was still developing.
