The Korean film banner Finecut has secured several international agreements for the psychological thriller “A Girl With Closed Eyes,” featuring rising star Kim Minha from the hit series “Pachinko.” This comes before the movie’s debut at the European Film Market (EFM) in Berlin.
In different markets, the debut film by director Chun Sunyoung has been obtained: Red Castle Group for the CIS territories, Klockworx for Japan, Media4Fun for Poland, Cola Films for Taiwan, and Aeonbeta for Vietnam. This suspenseful movie revolves around a detective who uncovers an unforeseen link between a bestselling author’s murder and the prime suspect.
Kim is the prime suspect in the case, while Moon Choi takes on the role of the detective. Known for her roles in “Deliver Us From Evil,” “Okja,” and “Anarchist From Colony,” Choi plays this part.
The main character under investigation is Kim, whereas the detective is played by Moon Choi, who has previously appeared in films like “Deliver Us From Evil,” “Okja,” and “Anarchist From Colony.”
Both versions aim to convey the same meaning while using different structures.
The movie is brought to you by Solaire Partners, a venture capital company that has financed several successful films at the box office such as “Parasite,” “Extreme Job,” “12.12: The Day” and “Next Sohee.”
Previously, Chun’s short film “Good Night” earned acclaim when it was chosen for Cannes Critics’ Week. Following its debut at the Busan International Film Festival, “A Girl With Closed Eyes” will conclude the Florence Korea Film Festival.
In Seoul, our sales representative is managing the latest competitive film by director Hong Sangsoo, titled “What Does That Nature Say to You.” This marks the director’s 12th selection for the Berlin Film Festival, following his victory of the Silver Bear Grand Jury Prize at last year’s event.
At EFM, Park Hoon-jung’s latest revenge thriller “Tristes Tropiques” will make its debut with the first glimpses of footage. This film is from the accomplished action-noir director known for movies like “New World” and “The Witch” series. The movie boasts a high-profile cast, featuring stars such as Park Hae-soo (“Squid Game”), Kim Myung-min (“Your Honor”), Lee Sin-young (“Crash Landing on You”), Park Yu-rim (“Drive My Car”), along with Taiwanese actors Austin Lin, Chen Yi-Wen, and Wang Po-Chieh.
The company’s lineup in Berlin includes “Secret: Untold Melody,” a musical drama starring K-pop idol D.O., the critically acclaimed animated film “Exorcism Chronicles: The Beginning,” and the horror-thriller titled “Noise.
