Owlcat Games introduces gameplay and companions in The Expanse: Osiris Reborn

Owlcat Games recently revealed a new gameplay trailer for The Expanse: Osiris Reborn during the March Xbox Partner Preview. The RPG is now slated for release in Spring 2027 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (through Steam, Epic, and GOG). Players will be able to enjoy the game on Xbox with Xbox Play Anywhere, and it will also be available as part of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.

The game will have a closed beta starting April 22, 2026, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam. Access will be granted to players who have pre-ordered either the Miller’s Pack or the Collector’s Edition from the game’s official website.

Owlcat Games recently shared details about their upcoming game on Xbox Wire. Community manager Gala Dolgikh explained the game’s story, how it plays, and the characters you’ll meet. She also highlighted a unique feature called ‘Exploits,’ which lets companions quickly defeat entire groups of enemies. Each companion will have different kinds of Exploits they can use.

This beta will let players test out the game’s combat, experience zero-gravity movement, and get a feel for the challenges of surviving on a distant space station. Owlcat Games also announced that the full game will launch in Spring 2027 on PC (through Steam, the Epic Games Store, and GOG) and on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. The Expanse: Osiris Reborn is an action RPG where your choices matter. Set in the world of The Expanse, you play as a mercenary for Pinkwater Security who barely survives a disaster on Eros. You’ll need to assemble a team and fight against the dangerous Protogen corporation and their unsettling experiments. While it takes place in the same universe as the books and TV show, this game tells a brand new story with its own unique characters.

The beta will let players investigate a distant space station owned by their company, Pinkwater Security, after narrowly escaping the disaster on Eros – a location familiar from the books and TV show. Players can explore this new setting, meet and talk to its residents, and see how their choices impact the story. They’ll also get a chance to test out the combat system and upgrade their gear when the people responsible for the attack on Eros finally find them.

Owlcat aims at incorporation valuable player feedback from the beta into the final game. 

The beta version of the game will be available on Steam, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5 starting April 22nd. Players who have already purchased The Collector’s Edition or Miller’s Pack will be able to access it. The beta will run until the game officially launches in Spring 2027. This young and enthusiastic Belter is eager to make a name for herself and accomplish something significant. In a battle, she acts as a support fighter – wearing enough armor to withstand damage, while remaining agile enough with her submachine gun to provide consistent medium-range fire cover.

Having become disappointed with both the UN military and working for private security firms, this tough soldier decided to become a mercenary. He’s a man of principle, haunted by a tragic past, but that doesn’t stop him from eagerly diving into battle, shield raised and autocannon ready.

Zafar is a thoughtful and composed individual, often expressing himself with beautiful language when he speaks. In combat, he overwhelms opponents using strategically placed turrets and devices that disable their technology, making them easy targets.
