Overwatch dev confirms nerfs to heroes that have dominated Season 1

Alec Dawson, a game director for Overwatch, announced that adjustments are coming to two heroes who have been particularly strong in the first season.

Overwatch Season 1 significantly changed the game’s popular strategies, with both balance adjustments and the addition of five new heroes. Several of these new heroes quickly became top choices for players in their specific roles.

Jetpack Cat is a frequently chosen Support hero, so much so that competitive players often ban her. Domina has become the go-to Tank hero and is also a popular ban for players.

Now, it’s been confirmed that both are set to receive nerfs very soon.

Nerfs coming to Jetpack Cat and Domina in Overwatch

Alec Dawson recently told Deemzies in an interview that the team plans to weaken Jetpack Cat, focusing on her Claws Out and Territorial Perks.

We plan to reduce the power of certain elements early next week. Later in the season, we’re considering adding a new Perk and removing the Territorial one. Currently, a particular character is too aggressive – she can quickly attack with flight, claws, and a special ability, making her very dangerous. We want to slightly lessen her offensive capabilities.

Jetpack Cat isn’t the only character getting improvements; Dawson also announced that Domina will be updated soon.

Domina is currently banned from matches often because she’s very powerful when first released. The developers plan to adjust her strength, but they haven’t shared details about what those changes will be or when they’ll happen.

Overwatch’s next major update, planned for mid-Season 1, is anticipated in March, and we might see it released around then.
