Overwatch 2 players have one major complaint about the new hero Freja

Players of Overwatch 2 are generally enthusiastic about the new character, Freja, and the game’s upcoming content. However, one minor aspect concerning Freja is causing a bit of hesitation within the community.

In a recent update, Overwatch unveiled a substantial amount of content for the game, such as hero bonuses, the reintroduction of lootboxes, and an all-encompassing mode named Stadium that offers players a third-person viewpoint. However, among the many thrilling developments, the announcement of two new characters, Freja and Aqua, is undeniably one of the most exciting updates!

In the upcoming update for the game, Freja will join as a new character, serving as a DPS hero who wields a crossbow. She boasts high damage output and impressive mobility, making her kit quite enticing. However, there’s been a point of contention among some players regarding one specific aspect of her design.

Freja looks too similar to some Overwatch heroes, players say

Although Freja offers an exciting and technically proficient gameplay, some gamers expressed dissatisfaction with her design. Numerous individuals perceived Freja’s character as dull and lackluster, while others argue that she resembles Widowmaker excessively in appearance.

As a gamer, when I first laid eyes on her, I was dead serious in thinking she was the Widow skin. But once I found out she was going to be the next hero, I have to admit I felt a tad let down. Her abilities are certainly cool, but her design just doesn’t pack the punch I was expecting. It feels safe, underwhelming, and it seems like they were more focused on creating skins for her rather than making her stand out as a unique character.

I made a Freja re-edit to make her look less like Widow

As a passionate fan, I’ve been thrilled by a recent online conversation where a fellow enthusiast has put in effort to revamp Freja’s appearance, making her look less like Black Widow or a typical Overwatch character. This fresh take on her design, as appreciated by many players, is a significant improvement over the original, in my opinion.

“It’s amazing how little you did yet made her look so much better,” replied one user.

Nevertheless, a significant number of players appreciate Freja’s design and find very little similarity with Widomaker.

One player questioned, “Does everyone else see a resemblance between her and the Widow that I’m missing?” They admitted, “I honestly can’t seem to find it.

“Wow, this echo chamber is crazy,” replied another.

As a fellow gamer, I must say that Freja’s current design is unlikely to change at this stage. However, she’s still expected to be well-received in the gaming community due to her demanding nature, requiring high skill and dedication to master. Excitingly, Freja is slated for release in Season 16, but a playtest will be offered during Season 15, giving us all an opportunity to familiarize ourselves with her abilities ahead of time.
