Players of Overwatch 2 can expect to engage with one of the game’s notoriously popular strategies, known as “metas,” in the Classic mode starting from the upcoming season.

In Overwatch 2, with fresh heroes and adjustments in balance, the gameplay strategies (meta) frequently change from one to another. From the initial period of Ana and Reaper’s Beyblade, Pirate Ship, Deathball, and many others, there have been numerous shifts throughout its history.

For those players who didn’t experience Mercy’s ‘broken’ state during Overwatch 1, they now have an opportunity to play the original mode that showcased the Moth meta.

Besides this nostalgic meta coming back to the game, fans should also anticipate the return of another one, which has a reputation for being rather controversial.

Excitedly, I can’t wait for the start of Season 15! It’s been announced that we’ll have a new 6v6 competitive queue to dive into, as well as an exciting throwback to one of Overwatch’s most iconic and notorious eras – Overwatch Classic: GOATS! This is going to be fantastic!

For beginners, GOATS strategy was a team composition (meta) that typically fielded nine characters: three tank heroes (like D.Va, Zarya, Reinhardt) and three support heroes (such as Brigitte, Lucio, Moira). Occasionally, the specific heroes in these roles might vary slightly.

Through playing GOATS composition, players could directly charge towards the opposing team, swamping them with persistent health regeneration. Furthermore, this gameplay style offered considerable combination possibilities, particularly when Zarya was included on the team.

I’ll never forget that one meta gameplay strategy that really made my classic gaming journey unforgettable, even if it wasn’t everyone’s cup of tea in the long run.
