The new series, Outlander: Blood of My Blood, explores the love stories of Jamie Fraser’s parents and Claire Beauchamp’s parents. As a prequel to the popular Outlander show, it reveals how their relationships unfolded and when fans might see young Jamie Fraser appear.
The new series, Outlander: Blood of My Blood, follows two love stories happening in different eras. Hermione Corfield, Jeremy Irvine, Harriet Slater, and Jamie Roy star as Julia Moriston, Henry Beauchamp, Ellen MacKenzie, and Brian Fraser, respectively. Because the show has already been picked up for a second season, viewers can expect a more detailed look at the history leading up to the original Outlander series.
The four main actors discussed how far into Jamie Fraser’s life the show might go during an interview with Deadline. Sam Heughan jokingly suggested he could play a young Jamie, while Mark Lewis Jones explained that showrunner Matt Roberts has said the series will conclude when Jamie is born. Sophie Skelton added that, as Jamie is the third child, they haven’t reached that part of the story yet. Below are their exact quotes.
Roy: A wee Jamie? I mean, I can get on my knees.
Corfield: Matt Roberts said when Jamie is born, that’s when [the show] ends.
As a huge fan of this story, I’m really hoping they eventually show us the backstory of the third child. Right now, we’re only at the very beginning – essentially, ‘child number zero’ in terms of revealing everyone’s story. I think a lot of us are eager to see that part of the narrative unfold on screen someday.
The new series explores two different storylines: the history of Jamie’s parents in 1700s Scotland and Claire’s parents during World War I in England. However, time travel connects these stories. The first season ends with Julia and Henry trying to travel through the stones, which will likely impact the events of the original series.

It seems likely Henry and Julia will be able to find Claire and Jamie. With a prequel already planned, Blood of My Blood season 2 will have enough time to address important questions, especially since the original series is coming to an end.
The eighth season of Outlander will be the show’s final season, premiering on Friday, March 6, 2026. The ten episodes will be released weekly on the Starz app and through Starz’s streaming and on-demand platforms. With the upcoming series Outlander: Blood of My Blood planned as a prequel, this final season offers a last chance to follow Jamie’s story in the original timeline.
