Luke Nichols, the creator of the Outdoor Boys channel, is changing careers. He’s leaving YouTube to work as a spiritual advisor in the Mormon church, while still occasionally helping out with his friend’s channel, MyLifeOutdoors.
I’m a huge fan of Luke Nichols and his YouTube channel, ‘Outdoor Boys’! It’s amazing – he’s built up over 18 million subscribers by sharing all his incredible wilderness adventures with his sons. It’s really cool to watch them rough it and explore the outdoors.
He began his YouTube channel ten years ago, in 2015. This May, in 2025, he announced he’s stopping content creation, deciding to prioritize his personal life and step away from public attention.
He made a quick return to the channel in November 2025 to announce his final three videos, marking the end of his time as a YouTuber.

Nichols is currently helping out his friend and fellow YouTuber, MyLifeOutdoors, while also following through on plans to explore other projects, as announced by the official Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Twitter.
The post states that Nichols is among the fourteen men currently on the Church’s Young Men General Advisory Council.
He started working in this position on December 1st, and will be helping the Young Men General Presidency support and guide leaders at all levels in teaching, serving, and caring for the young men in the Church.

According to a recent announcement from the Church’s Newsroom, Nichols is accomplished in multiple areas. In addition to creating content, he holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Brigham Young University and a law degree from George Mason University.
He worked as a criminal defense lawyer at Nichols & Green PLLC. Previously, he spent time as a full-time missionary in Fukuoka, Japan.
People are generally happy with Nichol’s recent decision. This comes after YouTube revealed its list of top creators for 2025, where Nichol ranked tenth thanks to a big increase in popularity this year.
