It’s been two years since Pikmin 4 was released on the Nintendo Switch, and it’s great to see Nintendo still supporting this charming and unique strategy game.
A big update is coming this November, bringing new content and features to the game. Get ready for plenty of charming gameplay and some of the cutest mechanics ever seen in a video game!
Nintendo recently announced a free update for Pikmin 4 coming in November. They shared the news in a video on YouTube, and while a specific date hasn’t been revealed yet, the update will add three exciting new features to the game.
Two Years Later, Pikmin 4 Is Blooming Again With a Wholesome Free Update
First, the update introduces a “Field Camera” – essentially a super cute Photo Mode. You can use it whenever you want to take pictures in the game, change the camera angle, and add fun stamps and frames to customize your shots.
Honestly, what really grabbed me about this game is how it lets you turn even the most terrifying moments into something fun and wholesome. Like, I can picture myself taking a selfie with a Smoky Progg and then decorating it with all sorts of cool stickers – it’s just a really charming idea!
The second big update introduces a brand new Pikmin type – and it’s unlike anything we’ve seen before! These are called Decor Pikmin, and they’re special because there aren’t many of them. Plus, each one wears a unique and surprising item – I especially liked the yellow one with a donut from The Simpsons!
Each map will have one Decor Pikmin hidden somewhere, but you’ll receive clues to help you find them. These Pikmin also have a unique feature: you can transfer them to the Pikmin Bloom mobile app.
Last but not least, two difficulty levels are going to be added to the game.
The Relaxed Level is perfect for beginners or younger players. In this mode, enemies won’t attack you unless you attack them first, letting you focus on building and exploring without worrying about combat. It’s also a good choice if you just want to get a picture with a boss without a fight!
Okay, so the second difficulty setting is called Fierce Mode, and let me tell you, it’s brutal. Everything gets way more aggressive – enemies attack harder and more often. Honestly, it’s really meant for players who really know what they’re doing, or maybe just those who like a serious challenge – or even enjoy getting totally wrecked!
This video showcases all the key features coming in Pikmin 4. The game is available now on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.
