Streamer ‘itsKatchii‘ has spoken up following the controversy caused by a gesture made during an OTK Chinese New Year event, which received criticism online.
On the 4th of February, the collective from the streaming platform OTK came together for a unique celebration of the Chinese New Year. This special occasion was marked by a live event filled with traditional Chinese festivities such as a lively dragon dance.
At the event, Katchii made a contentious greeting – an action that promptly caused disbelief and fury among spectators.
Videos of the event were swiftly removed from Twitch, leading to more criticism from online users. These individuals criticized the streamer, calling for a response from OTK regarding the situation.

ItsKatchii apologizes for “insensitive” salute at OTK event
On the following day, Katchii shared a note addressing the incident within her Discord community, confessing that she had been intoxicated during the celebration and decided to abstain from alcohol moving forward.
She admitted, “My actions were foolish, and this experience has taught me a valuable lesson – I can’t handle alcohol at all, so I’ve decided to stop drinking.
Initially, I felt nervous about potentially being dull, but that feeling turned out to be unfounded, leaving me with no other choice. I can’t recall anything after taking my seat at the hibachi. In retrospect, I attempted to be humorous, but unfortunately, I came off as tactless and downright foolish instead.
Given my new role as a public figure, I recognize the need to be more mindful about my words and actions. It’s all quite novel, and I tend not to speak much about it, but let me tell you, maintaining an online presence can be challenging, especially when every action is scrutinized and compared to others.
At Discord, Katchii shares her thoughts following her viral salute at Emiru’s Lunar New Party. She expresses that she has trouble handling even a little alcohol and is planning to quit. She also clarifies that she is not associated with any hate groups or racist ideologies. Additionally, she discusses the challenges of being online, as she feels scrutinized for her every action.

In the end, Katchii expressed her apologies for the situation and asserted that she has no affiliation with any racist groups. She stated that it’s beyond her understanding how there could be individuals who genuinely discriminate against others solely due to their birth circumstances.
Initially, Katchii became part of OTK towards the end of 2024, and she now has more than 112K followers on Twitch. As I write this, her channel remains accessible; however, it’s important to note that there’s a chance Twitch might enforce actions against her account based on their Hateful Conduct policy regulations.
