In December 2025, Mickey Rourke received a notice demanding he pay around $60,000 in unpaid rent or face eviction from his Los Angeles home. His friend, Liya-Joelle Jones, has started a fundraising campaign to help, aiming to raise $100,000. As of this writing, the campaign, titled Help Mickey Rourke Stay in His Home, has collected $12,950.
The description explained that things became really challenging for Rourke when he left Hollywood to become a professional boxer. Once he stepped away from acting, the film industry largely abandoned him. This made it difficult to find good roles when he tried to return, and he struggled financially as a result.
The campaign emphasized that even though Rourke is famous, he’s faced many difficulties in life. The fundraiser highlighted that a career in entertainment doesn’t guarantee financial security. Work is often temporary, leaving performers unsure of when their next job – and paycheck – will come. Ultimately, they argued, he’s a person who deserves basic needs like housing.

If he didn’t pay, he would have to move out. The notice was part of a legal complaint filed on December 29, 2025, which People obtained. The complaint states that De Niro didn’t receive the notice because he wasn’t home when it was mailed. Goldie is also reportedly seeking to be reimbursed for his legal costs.
