Orlando Bloom Says Keira Knightley Did ‘Wonderful Things’ in ‘Pirates’ Movies After She Revealed ‘I Was Seen as S—‘ and ‘Taken Down Publicly’ Because of Them

As a passionate movie enthusiast, I can’t help but applaud Kiera Knightley for her exceptional performances in the “Pirates of the Caribbean” series. Just a few months ago, she bravely shared her experience of facing public ridicule due to her work in these beloved movies. Kiera and I, as Will Turner and Elizabeth Swann, embarked on our swashbuckling adventures together in “Curse of the Black Pearl” (2003), “Dead Man’s Chest” (2006), and “At World’s End” (2007). It’s hard to believe that she was only 17 when she first took on this iconic role.

Bloom remarked that the moment in question felt so significant, it seemed as if it had happened in a different era altogether. However, he acknowledged its uniqueness and expressed gratitude for it. He also empathized with Keira’s perspective, admiring her accomplishments. Overall, he took away many positive aspects from the experience.”

“Bloom commented that the moment they were discussing felt so monumental, it was almost as if it belonged to another lifetime. Yet, he acknowledged its distinctiveness and appreciated it. He could relate to Keira’s viewpoint, recognizing her achievements. Ultimately, he drew many positive lessons from the situation.

In a chat with The Times of London back in November, Knightley expressed that the “Pirates of the Caribbean” series was both making and challenging her career simultaneously.

Knightley stated, ‘I was often criticized due to them, yet it was because of their success that I received chances to star in films which earned me Oscar nominations. These were the most successful projects I’ve ever been involved in, but they also led to public backlash for me. So, they occupy a complex space in my mind.’

When questioned about potentially joining another major Hollywood series, Knightley expressed her reluctance, stating: “The work schedule is demanding. It consumes significant portions of your life. There’s no say in where or when you’ll be shooting, or even what you’ll be working on.

The “Pirates” series is being revived by its original producer, Jerry Bruckheimer, who seems enthusiastic about the project. Orlando Bloom mentioned that he’s heard Jerry is “quite eager,” and further stated, “It will be intriguing to witness. Jerry always delivers a grand spectacle, if I may say so – guns, I mean cannons, indeed.

In response to your question about whether Bloom might reprise his role as Will Turner, he said: “Well, it was an exhilarating and enjoyable adventure, so I’d never rule it out entirely. I have a deep appreciation for that chapter in my life, the entire project, Jerry included. But honestly, I haven’t given it much thought lately. I’m content with having been a part of something timeless, which is quite remarkable.
