Beau DeMayo, who created the animated series X-Men ’97, has responded to the trailer for its second season. This reaction comes about a year after he was let go from Marvel Studios. He used social media to praise the team currently working on the show and offer his support.
Beau DeMayo congratulates Marvel TV head over X-Men ’97 Season 2 trailer
Beau DeMayo, the creator of X-Men ’97, publicly praised Marvel Studios after the trailer for the show’s second season was released.
I just caught the new trailer for *X-Men ’97* and I’m so excited! I immediately hopped on X (formerly Twitter) to give a shout-out to everyone involved. Huge congrats to Brad and the entire team for creating something amazing, and a special nod to @xmentas for finally getting the recognition they deserve as executive producers – it’s been a long time coming!
DeMayo also asked fans to support the creative team as they finish up development. He added that the final months are always the most hectic and encouraged fans to send positive energy their way, tagging @MarvelStudios. He reminded everyone that the X-Men are larger than any individual and that the team lineup is always evolving.
This announcement follows a difficult year for the writer, who lost their job at Marvel Studios earlier in 2024. Marvel stated they ended their working relationship with the writer after an internal review, and acted quickly to do so.
Although the specifics haven’t been made public, Deadline reported the investigation centered on claims of sexual misconduct and a violation of his divorce settlement. This disagreement resulted in DeMayo being removed from the credits of the project.
Marvel has brought on Matthew Chauncey, a writer from ‘What If…?’, to lead Season 3 of the show. The renewal was officially announced at New York Comic Con this year. Additionally, the studio revealed that Season 2 of ‘X-Men ’97’ will debut on Disney+ in the summer of 2026.
