‘Only on Earth,’ About Threat of Wildfires, Acquired by Autlook Ahead of Berlin Premiere (EXCLUSIVE)

In Vienna, Autlook Sales Agency has obtained the rights to Robin Petré’s timely feature documentary “Only on Earth” before its debut at the Berlin Film Festival. This movie takes viewers on a captivating tour through Southern Galicia, a region known for its stunning natural beauty yet also one of Europe’s regions most at risk from wildfires.

The full-length documentary is set to debut in Berlin’s Generation section, following its win of the top Docs-in-Progress award at the International Emerging Film Talent Association (IEFTA) last year in Cannes.

In the record-breaking heatwave of summer, both humans and animals find it challenging to adapt as relentless wildfires encroach. For centuries, wild horses have inhabited the Galician mountains, serving an essential function in fire prevention by reducing flammable vegetation – however, their population is diminishing due to conflicts between human development and nature.

On Earth Only” explores the intricate harmony of our natural environment and the interplay between humans and beasts, as seen through the perspectives of a young cowboy, an experienced fire expert, a dedicated horse veterinarian, a farming family standing at the forefront, and the horses themselves.

Petré expresses: “Ever since I can recall, I’ve had a profound bond with and admiration for the natural world. However, whenever I revisit the rural surroundings where I was raised, I’m saddened by how swiftly the scenery is transforming. As mass extinctions occur and temperatures surge worldwide, our planet is altering at a speed we struggle to grasp. I aspire that this film will imprint an indelible, poignant memory on viewers. Essentially, it should inspire people to reflect on how we manage wildlife and influence nature, and to ponder how we might unite to shift the trajectory of tomorrow for the better.

Stephanie Fuchs, Autlook’s CEO, points out: “Robin Petré has crafted a truly impressive and visually stunning film that couldn’t be more relevant right now. ‘Only on Earth’ powerfully portrays the urgency of our changing world with exceptional depth and skill. We’re thrilled to be involved and excited to share this vital tale with audiences worldwide.

The production of ‘Only on Earth’ is a collaboration between Signe Skov Thomsen and Malene Flindt Pedersen from Hansen & Pedersen in Denmark, alongside Carles Brugueras and Marieke van den Bersselaar from Polar Star Films in Spain. Executive producers Hanka Kastelicová, Alberto Carullo, Antonio Trashorras, and David Ocaña oversee the project for MAX in Spain.”

This version keeps the original information but is rephrased to be more straightforward and easy to understand.

The movie is funded by the Danish Film Institute, ICEC (Catalan Cultural Enterprises Institute), ICAA (Spanish Institute of Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts), Nordisk Film & TV Fund, and Beckett-Fonden, working together with broadcasters DR and SVT.

The movie additionally earned funding through the Sundance Institute Documentary Film Program, backed by Sandbox Films, and was nurtured with the assistance of Eurimages and Creative Europe Media.
