One weapon can completely dominate the skies in Battlefield 6. It’s easier with a teammate, but you can actually pull it off solo too

Battlefield 6 has had a rocky start since its release last week. Players experienced issues like bullets registering without hitting their targets, server crashes, and long wait times just to access the single-player mode. While data miners have discovered hints of upcoming features like Jet Skis and inflatable boats, the biggest surprise has been a simple exploit that makes one weapon incredibly powerful against aircraft.

The IFV lock-on trick

In Battlefield 6, the Infantry Fighting Vehicle (IFV) is incredibly effective against aircraft. Its lock-on anti-air missile is almost guaranteed to hit, making jets and helicopters very vulnerable. Here’s how it works: first, “paint” a target with the IFV’s laser designator (or have a teammate do it). Then, fire the missile for an instant kill – even countermeasures and evasive flying won’t save the target.

This shows two players quickly destroying enemy aircraft and helicopters, often immediately after they appear, which helps their team dominate the airspace.

This strategy works best with a teammate, but coordinating with others online can be tricky. Having a well-organized squad is ideal, but often multiplayer matches are unpredictable and everyone ends up playing their own way. It’s frustrating, but also what makes it fun.

Surprisingly, you can complete this challenge by yourself! Simply switch between the driver and gunner positions – the laser lock lasts long enough to fire a missile and quickly eliminate the target. It’s more difficult playing alone, but still enjoyable. We’ll likely learn later if this is due to a game imbalance or an oversight by the developers.
