After more than 1100 chapters, the story is finally reaching its most exciting point! The long flashback to God Valley is wrapping up, meaning we’re heading back to the present. This will set the stage for the first major battle between the Straw Hat Pirates and the series’ main villain. Plus, within the flashback itself, we’re about to see the epic final fight of Rocks D. Xebec, the most powerful pirate of his time.
With the defeat of Rocks, the epic battle between Luffy and Imu is about to start. Although Luffy isn’t close by right now, he’s the only member of the Straw Hat crew who has a chance against Imu, and he’ll have to rush to help his friends. Before that happens, Rocks has already defeated Kaido, Big Mom, and Whitebeard, paving the way for his downfall at the hands of Gol D. Roger and Monkey D. Garp.
Rocks D. Xebec is About to Fight His Final Battle Against Roger and Garp
Fans who have been enjoying the story set in the past, known as the God Valley flashback, are about to see it conclude. In a devastating turn of events in One Piece, Rocks D. Xebec’s attempt to overthrow Imu has failed. He’s defeated by Imu’s powerful ability, “Domi Reversi,” which turns him into a monstrous creature. Chapter 1164 shows Rocks easily overpowering three future Emperors of the Sea – his former crewmates Whitebeard, Big Mom, and Kaido – and almost harming his wife and son, Eris and Marshall D. Teach. However, readers already know the outcome: Gol D. Roger and Monkey D. Garp will ultimately defeat Rocks, and the World Government will manipulate the historical record, portraying him as a villain despite being a hero of his time.
I’ve been watching the fans react, and Rocks has quickly become a truly popular character in One Piece. It would be a shame to see him go out without a powerful conclusion. He’s got this incredible presence, he’s brave and honorable, and he’s given us a deeper understanding of the world Luffy has been sailing through for over 1100 chapters. His story deserves a grand finale, not a quiet ending. It feels like the biggest clashes are coming, and I think chapters 1165 and maybe even 1166 need to really deliver a battle that feels massive and marks the end of an era.
Luffy and the Strawhats Will Begin Fighting Imu in the Next Few One Piece Chapters

It’s easy to lose track of things with everything happening, but remember that Imu actually showed up in Elbaf, possessing Gunko’s body, at the end of the last major story arc. As the seemingly immortal leader of the World Government, this is a huge development, essentially establishing Imu as the ultimate villain of the series. Considering the God Valley flashback, we know just how dangerous this is for the Straw Hats. Even the combined might of legendary pirates like Rocks, Roger, Garp, Whitebeard, Kaido, and Big Mom couldn’t even harm Imu, and the Straw Hats don’t currently have anywhere near that level of power.
After nearly 30 years, the epic showdown between Luffy and the series’ biggest villain, Imu, is finally happening! Before that battle, we’ll see how the rest of the Straw Hat crew handles Imu’s incredible power. It’s a big test for Robin, Franky, Brook, Usopp, Chopper, and Nami to see if they can even compete, and whether Jinbe still has what it takes as a strong fighter. When Zoro and Sanji rejoin Luffy and the others, they’ll also face Imu, potentially unlocking new levels of power. Plus, we might learn more about Scopper Gaban, and see if Loki lives up to the expectations.
The popular manga One Piece is expected to continue for several years, but it’s now clearly entering its final storyline. The next chapter will feature a pivotal battle that sets up the ultimate confrontation – Luffy versus Imu – which could span hundreds of chapters and take many forms.
