One Piece Series Gets Major Season 3 Updates Ahead of Season 2

Production for Season 3 of Netflix’s live-action One Piece is now underway! Along with this news, several casting changes have been announced, including returning favorites, actors moving into larger roles, and exciting new faces joining the show. This comes as fans eagerly await the arrival of Season 2.

What are the One Piece Season 3 updates?

Netflix announced on its Tudum and Deadline platforms that filming for One Piece Season 3 started on November 24, 2025, in Cape Town, South Africa.

The cast of the show is back with Iñaki Godoy as Luffy, Jacob Romero as Usopp, Mackenyu as Zoro, Taz Skylar as Sanji, and Emily Rudd as Nami. Charithra Chandran will reprise her role as Miss Wednesday. Joining them again as series regulars are Joe Manganiello as Mr. 0, Sendhil Ramamurthy as Nefartari Cobra, Lera Abova as Miss All Sunday, and Mikaela Hoover as Chopper. New to the cast this season are Xolo Maridueña as Portgas D. Ace and Cole Escola as Bon Clay.

The third season of the show began with the episode “Where There’s Smoke,” written by Ashley Wigfield and directed by Christoph Schrewe. A promotional image for the episode featured a knife, a skull, a Log Pose, and a script page set against a desert backdrop, hinting at a connection to the Alabasta Arc.

This season of One Piece, based on the manga by Eiichiro Oda, covers the Alabasta Arc. This arc, which includes chapters 155-217 of the manga, completes the Alabasta Saga.

Season 3 will delve deeper into the storyline surrounding the Baroque Works. This plotline was first introduced at the end of Season 1 and developed further in Season 2. Fans can expect Season 2, now called ‘One Piece: Into the Grand Line’, to be released on Netflix on March 10, 2026.

As a huge anime fan, I’m really excited about how Netflix is making this series! They’re working with Tomorrow Studios and Shueisha to bring it to life, and it’s got a fantastic team behind it. Eiichiro Oda, the creator, is involved as an executive producer, which is awesome, and he’s joined by folks like Matt Owens, Joe Tracz, Ian Stokes, Marty Adelstein, and Becky Clements – a really talented group all around.
