One Piece fans convinced they’ve already found where Oda hid the series’ biggest secret

One Piece fans believe they’ve discovered the actual place where the series’ greatest mystery, the ‘One Piece,’ is hidden – deep underwater, as the creator Eiichiro Oda has hinted.

On March 3rd, the One Piece YouTube channel shared a video revealing Eiichiro Oda’s answer to the long-standing fan question: What is the One Piece? The answer was written on a page, placed in a tiny treasure chest, sealed in a strong glass sphere, and dropped into the ocean.

Currently, it’s located 651 meters underwater and will stay there until Luffy’s journey for the ultimate treasure ends. But one fan believes they’ve figured out where the solution lies.

Fans think the secret behind the One Piece is hidden in Japan

A popular theory on Reddit suggests the capsule probably landed somewhere off the Japanese coast. The user believes mentions of the Japanese Coast Guard and a marine science agency in the video’s description might indicate the event had official backing.

The team also examined the video’s environment, observing that the horizon appears clear of land when the camera points southwest during sunset.

According to a recent message, the sun will be setting to the southwest around 4:00 PM. The camera is positioned to capture a high-angle view of open water, with no land visible. This means the coastline is likely behind them, towards the northeast. They estimate the drone’s altitude allows visibility of up to 30-50 kilometers.

The video also points to the seafloor itself as a clue. The sediment looks smooth and silky, not rough or broken up, suggesting it settled in a quiet, deep-sea environment with gentle currents.

Based on the available information, the most likely location is Suruga Bay, a deep bay in Shizuoka Prefecture, south of Tokyo. It’s also a popular spot for studying marine life.

The area is near Tokyo, where Oda is located, and matches all the necessary criteria. It’s easily accessible, retrieval is simple, there are no dangerous underwater currents, and there’s no land visible to the southwest. Plus, it’s a location frequently used for testing by the Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology.

We haven’t confirmed the capsule actually landed there, so this idea is just a guess. Regardless, the truth about the One Piece treasure is somewhere at the bottom of the ocean, and that’s sparked a real-life hunt among fans to solve the biggest mystery in the series.
