Remember Bully Online, the popular fan-made mod that added multiplayer to the game Bully? It’s now been permanently shut down, so if you didn’t get a chance to play it after it launched in December 2025, you won’t be able to anymore.
As of January 14th, the Bully Online project has been completely shut down and all related materials have been removed. This includes the game itself, the Discord server, the website, the source code, and all user accounts. The announcement video on YouTube is no longer public, and the project’s Ko-Fi page has been taken down. Essentially, the project is over and everything associated with it is gone.
I’m still trying to figure out what happened, and honestly, nobody seems to know yet. Yubari said the team definitely didn’t want this to happen. SWEGTA, who’s a huge Bully fan like me and leads the Bully Online project, posted on X that he’ll explain everything in a YouTube video on January 21st. I’m really looking forward to hearing what he has to say!
Fans of the Bully Online project believe the team may have received a legal notice from Rockstar Vancouver or Take-Two Interactive, possibly because they were trying to make money from content created by Rockstar. We should know more when SWEGTA responds next week.
Bully Online was a popular modification for the 2006 game Bully, letting players connect online with friends and strangers. They could play various minigames, participate in role-playing, race, and defend themselves against characters within the game. It included open-world exploration, a detailed inventory, and even in-game money to purchase things like houses, items, and vehicles. Many players compared it to the online experiences in Grand Theft Auto Online and Red Dead Redemption Online, though it was created by fans. Sadly, Bully Online is no longer available.
