Oliver Tree producer reveals friend saved him from helicopter crash that killed singer

Oliver Tree’s producer, Victor WAO, has shared that he was initially scheduled to be on the helicopter that crashed in Brazil, resulting in the deaths of the singer and five other people.

Victor shared heartfelt messages on social media honoring his friend and colleague, Lucas Frota, a music producer who tragically died in a car accident on June 14th.

Victor said Frota talked him out of taking the flight right before departure, as Victor was afraid of flying.

Victor explained in a social media post that he was originally scheduled to be on the helicopter but canceled at the last minute. He said his friends told him they arranged for a car to drive him to Angra because he was afraid of flying, and someone else took his place on the flight.

I truly owe you my life, brother. I’m overwhelmed and don’t know how to express my gratitude. I love you deeply and will never forget what you’ve done for me. Lucas, you were a beacon of hope and goodness.

A tragic helicopter collision in Rio de Janeiro on June 14th resulted in the deaths of seven people. Those killed included Oliver Tree, Lucas Frota, Lucas Vignale, Gaspar Prim (known online as Gaspi), and the two pilots, Alexandre Souza and Charles Marsillac.

The tragedy happened while Tree was in South America as part of his The World’s First World Tour.

Victor shared in another post that he considers Frota to be the most amazing and inspiring person he’s ever met.

“I am heartbroken, but I am praying for you wherever you are,” he wrote. “I will never forget you.”

Video from the area showed one helicopter crashing into the parking lot of a car dealership and immediately catching fire. The crash ignited at least 20 electric vehicles in the lot.

CNN reports that police are still investigating the incident and have asked forensic experts to examine the evidence. One investigator suggests the crash may have been caused by a mistake.

The day before the accident, Tree posted a video of his trip to Brazil. It featured him playing soccer, biking, getting a haircut, and cooking with friends.

The video’s caption, “Gringo 24 horas no Brasil,” means “Foreigner 24 hours in Brazil.”
