Okami set to receive sequel after 18 years. Hideki Kamiya is again responsible for direction

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of gaming under my belt, I can confidently say that the return of the Okami series is like a breath of fresh air. Twelve long years have passed since the original game graced our screens, and while I was skeptical at first, the confirmation that Hideki Kamiya himself would be at the helm of this sequel has me more excited than ever!

It was quite a surprise when it was revealed that the Okami Series is making a comeback with a new game, an announcement made during the prestigious event honoring the top games of the last year, The Game Awards 2024.

To date, the project, tentatively titled “Okami: Sequel,” hasn’t revealed much about itself. However, it has been confirmed that Hideki Kamiya, who directed the original “Okami” game, will oversee its development at Capcom.

You can see the first teaser of the game below.

frankly speaking, it wasn’t entirely unexpected given that it’s been 12 years (or 6 if we count the Switch reissue) since the updated version of the initial game was launched. The fact that Capcom’s latest title, Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess, features a crossover with Okami suggests that the publisher hasn’t forgotten this franchise yet. Here’s to hoping that the sequel outperforms the original in sales and continues its success.

The release date and platforms remain unknown.
