Octopath Traveler 0 TGS 2025 stream includes in-game gameplay footage

At Tokyo Game Show 2025, Square Enix presented a showcase for Octopath Traveler 0. The event was also streamed online and featured new gameplay from the Japanese version of the game.

As a big fan, I thought we already had a pretty good handle on most of what this game offers – from designing your character to building up towns and getting into battles. But the new gameplay footage from Japan really dove deeper into all of those things, giving us an even better look at how they work!

Okay, so when I’m making my character, it’s not just a name and backstory – I actually get to tell the game my favorite food, which is a cool little detail! And it gets even better: if I decide certain characters should live together, they’ll actually *comment* on their roommates when I chat with them. It’s like they have a real relationship! Plus, I can totally customize the town – I can swap out the wood on the stairs for brick, or whatever I want. It’s awesome being able to put my own spin on everything.

You can watch a recording of the show right here. The gaming part starts around 40 minutes and 2 seconds in.

We’ve gathered the Japanese voice actor list from the game’s Japanese website because the press releases we’ve received only included the English voice actors. Incidentally, Jun Kasama, who voices Phenn in Japanese, also attended the event mentioned earlier.

Interestingly, the Japanese voice of Herminia is still provided by Atsuko Tanaka, despite her passing away last year. She previously voiced the same character in the mobile game *Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent*, which originally came out in Japan in 2020.
