The Now You See Me movies, starring Jesse Eisenberg, are getting a fresh start following the latest film’s release. While the Four Horsemen recently returned after a nine-year break, the next movie, Now You See Me 4, will focus on bringing the series back to its original style and themes.
The upcoming film will allow the Horsemen to start fresh, according to producer Bobby Cohen. By the end of the movie, audiences will understand why the group can finally operate openly, without needing to remain in hiding as fugitives.
He explains that letting these characters shine – not just as crime-fighters with Robin Hood-like ideals, but as amazing performers – would be a great idea. Imagine them performing in the open, for huge crowds, putting on a spectacular show like a super band. It’s about showcasing both their skills and their ability to entertain.
According to producer Alex Cohen, the fourth Now You See Me movie won’t take as long to arrive as the previous installment, Now You See Me: Now You Don’t. Lionsgate was pleased with the progress on the third film and has already begun planning the sequel. Cohen shared that Lionsgate was very supportive, saying they were impressed with what they’d seen and ready to start developing the next movie.
Now You See Me 4 Will Reset the Series for the Future
Now You See Me: Now You Don’t is the third film in the Now You See Me series, following the 2013 original and its 2016 sequel. After a nine-year gap, the movie reunites the original Four Horsemen – played by Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Dave Franco, and Isla Fisher – who are challenged by a new trio of young magicians (Justice Smith, Dominic Sessa, and Ariana Greenblatt). This new group attempts a heist mimicking the Four Horsemen, using advanced deepfake technology.
Ruben Fleischer directed the new film, Now You See Me: Now You Don’t, written by Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, Michael Lesslie, and Seth Grahame-Smith. Lizzy Caplan reprises her role as Lula May, having taken over from Isla Fisher’s character in Now You See Me 2, and Morgan Freeman returns as Thaddeus Bradley, the former leader of the Eye. While Michael Caine appeared in the first two Now You See Me films, he did not participate in this sequel.
The movie is currently showing in cinemas, and a fourth installment of Now You See Me, with director Jon M. Chu returning, is beginning development.
