Noel Fielding’s Apple TV+ Dick Turpin Series ‘Ceases Production’ on Season 2

The Apple TV+ show “The Fictional Exploits of Dick Turpin,” starring Noel Fielding as the notorious highwayman, has unexpectedly halted production during Season 2, according to official confirmation from EbMaster.

A source close to the project said Season 2 had “ceased production.”

It’s clear that EbMaster recognizes the show, having been in production for roughly three months, is highly improbable to resume. Meanwhile, another insider reported that Apple and production company Big Talk made every possible effort to complete the series, showing genuine enthusiasm for it.

The first season of the show, which debuted on the streaming platform last spring, features six episodes and stars Hugh Bonneville, Tamsin Greig, and Ellie White alongside him. This production was helmed by Ben Palmer, known for directing “The Inbetweeners” and “Douglas is Cancelled,” and Danielle Fielding served as one of the executive producers for this project.

The filming for the second season of the show commenced at Sky Studios in Elstree and various outdoor locations last autumn, before taking a prolonged holiday pause over the Christmas period.

According to British newspaper The Sun, which initially broke the story, the show halted because Fielding was absent from work and reportedly didn’t return. Fielding’s representative has yet to comment on this matter as of the publishing date.

In the late 90s and early 2000s, Fielding gained widespread recognition through his work on the quirky comedy series “The Mighty Boosh”. Since 2017, he’s been sharing hosting duties for “The Great British Bake-Off” (or “The Great British Baking Show” in the U.S.), working alongside a variety of presenters, with Alison Hammond being the most recent one.

As per IMDb, it’s announced that he will be the lead actor in the upcoming short film titled “The Marvelous Mystery of Death,” which is helmed by Nathan Wiley.

Reps for Apple and Big Talk declined to comment.
