So, the latest Counter-Strike 2 update definitely upped the difficulty when I’m trying to defuse the bomb with the clock ticking down – it feels way more stressful now! They also snuck in a bunch of under-the-hood fixes that I haven’t even noticed, which is cool.
Players are eager for faster development of CS2, but Valve consistently releases updates. While these updates aren’t huge, they do add new changes to the incredibly popular first-person shooter.
The newest update was released to beta testers yesterday and is now live in the complete version of the second *CS* game. Most of the changes are small and won’t have a big effect on how the game plays or runs. The developers intended to improve the bullet penetration system to reduce strain on the processor, but so far, only one player has reported a noticeable performance increase.
A recent change has gotten a lot of notice: when defusing bombs, the game will now slightly lower your weapon, prevent you from using the scope, and add a short delay (150 milliseconds) before you can fire.
Some players dislike a recent change that unintentionally benefits terrorists, but others explain it only affects a specific tactic. This tactic allowed players to aim and shoot while pretending to defuse a bomb, letting counter-terrorists quickly eliminate approaching terrorists. Essentially, the update just makes it more difficult to use sniper rifles to perform this particular maneuver.
Also, while not officially highlighted, Valve has been addressing the problem of ‘wallbanging’ – where players can damage others through walls or doors. They’ve also refined the user interface and made many other minor improvements. A complete list of all the changes is available in the official Steam post.
