In simple terms, you may find it difficult to comprehend this, but with the Worlds Part 2 update, No Man’s Sky is set to introduce billions (yes, plural) of additional star systems and planets. Alongside this expansion, Hello Games promises the debut of new biomes, unique flora, and an overhauled terrain system featuring deep oceans.
According to a post on the PlayStation Blog by Sean Murray, founder of Hello Games, there are exciting updates coming for Worlds Part 2, which he describes as one of their largest releases. Notably, your home base will remain unchanged, but venturing out into space offers new sights and activities. Among the new additions is the appearance of Gas Giants in the game. These massive worlds can be up to 10 times larger than any planets you’ve previously explored. Exploring Gas Giants and deep oceans requires advanced technology due to hazards like gas storms, deep-sea pressure, and anomalies, which introduce fresh risks and challenges to No Man’s Sky.
Furthermore, Murray points out that Hello Games has revamped the lighting system and enhanced underwater gameplay for the new deep oceans in the game. Interestingly, these improvements stem from the team’s work on their upcoming project, Light No Fire, a fantasy open-world game that includes dragons.
As a dedicated fan of No Man’s Sky, I can’t help but share my excitement about the game’s incredible updates. Last July, we were treated to Worlds Part 1, an overhaul that breathed new life into the game’s visuals and introduced mech-mounted flamethrowers. Fast forward to September 2024, and the aquatic adventure began with the Aquarius update, which finally allowed us to cast a line and go fishing in this space-exploration title. The cherry on top came in November when the long-awaited cross-save feature was introduced, making it even easier for us to traverse the vast cosmos. To top it all off, No Man’s Sky was honored with a nomination for Best Community Support at The Game Awards 2024. Simply amazing!
