Nitro Gen Omega early access roadmap teases full release with additional platforms in May 2026

DESTINYbit has released a plan for the future development of Nitro Gen Omega, outlining what players can expect in the Early Access period. They’ve also announced a target release date of May 2026 and suggested the game may eventually be available on more platforms than just Steam, where the Early Access version is currently available.

We’ve been consistently updating the game since its Early Access release, with improvements coming almost monthly. We enhanced character creation early on, then in October we improved the Sonar system, and in November we added more things for characters to do. We have another update planned for this month, and we’re aiming to release two larger updates next year in January and March before the full game launches.

You’ll find the roadmap announcement just below this. Nitro Gen Omega has been playable on PC through Steam Early Access since June of last year.

Crew,

We’re excited to announce our plan for the rest of the Early Access period! We’re finally sharing what we’ve been working on and what’s coming next.

It’s been an incredible journey since we launched into Early Access in June! We’ve already released six updates, including two big ones: Character Creator and Lost Frequencies.

We’re thrilled to share that our next big update, Vocations, is launching soon! Plus, we have two more significant updates planned before we officially release version 1.0 next year.

We’ve been listening to your feedback and working with the community to understand what’s most important to you, and how we can incorporate those ideas into our future development.

Once we finish up with Vocations, we’re planning a complete overhaul of the tutorial to make it much better. And if you’ve already mastered the basics, there’s exciting news for you too: we’re adding new enemies to challenge you in the wastelands!

We’re excited to announce a new Mech that we’ve been working on! This will finish the complete set of Mechs players can use in the game.

When we initially started developing NITRO GEN OMEGA, our goal was to create a completely open, sandbox-style game. But as the game developed, it naturally shifted towards a stronger story with quests, which we believe provides the kind of experience players want from this world.

We’re excited to announce a major addition: a central, overarching questline. Our current side quests have been great for exploring the world and finding new things, but they didn’t quite offer the satisfying, complete story arc – a clear beginning, middle, and end – that players deserve. We’re confident you’ll love what we’ve created.

The major story update – which marks the official release of version 1.0 – requires you to begin a new game. We’re working to ensure your current game progress isn’t lost, so you can still continue playing as you are. However, the new story content won’t automatically appear in older save files. We’ll give you another reminder about this before the update goes live.

With the launch of version 1.0, we’re also bringing NITRO GEN OMEGA to more platforms – watch for future announcements about that! We’ll also continue releasing smaller updates when they’re ready, and will keep you informed about our progress.

It’s been a privilege building this game with you, and a joy having you along for the ride.

See you on the wastelands,

GP
