NIS America released the opening cinematic for The Legend of Heroes: Trails beyond the Horizon just before the game comes out next week.
The game begins with a snippet of the song “Shiroisekai” by Falcom Sound Team jdk. You can find the full song on the game’s soundtrack, which is available on streaming platforms and as a CD.
So, the game is coming out in the West next week, and I’ve been playing it! You can check out my full review, my deep dive into the PC version, and my comparison of how it runs on consoles. If you want to try it out yourself, there’s a Story Demo available on Steam, PlayStation 4 & 5, and the Nintendo eShop. Plus, there’s a Battle Demo you can download on PS5 and PS4 – definitely worth a shot if you want to see the combat!

NIS America is happy to reveal the opening movie for The Legend of Heroes: Trails beyond the Horizon, which is coming out on January 15th.
Okay, so the opening cinematic has this awesome new song called “Shiroisekai – Short Ver.” – it’s by Falcom’s Sound Team jdk. Mitsuo Singa really led the charge on the arrangement and lyrics, with gakia2 helping out on keyboards. It’s a full production, too! Megumi Sasaka did the vocals, and they got ADD on sax, Sakura Yoshida and PBM on guitar, Kazuhiro Tanizaki on violin, and NAOKIX laying down the bass. If you’re a soundtrack collector like me, you’ll be glad to know it’s going to be on the new album, The Legend of Heroes: Kai no Kiseki – Farewell, O Zemuria – Original Soundtrack.
To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the series, The Legend of Heroes: Trails beyond the Horizon will launch on January 15, 2026, for Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC (available on Steam, the Epic Games Store, and GOG). A limited edition version for Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch is available for preorder exclusively through the NIS Online Store.
