Koei Tecmo and Team Ninja announced that their action RPG, Nioh 3, has already sold over 1 million copies globally on PlayStation 5 and PC. This makes it the fastest-selling game in the Nioh series! To mark the occasion, they released a trailer showcasing positive reviews. The entire Nioh franchise has now sold more than 10 million copies!
Nioh 3 puts you in the role of Tokugawa Takechiyo, a young man destined to become shogun during a peaceful time in Japan. However, his younger brother, Tokugawa Kunimatsu, secretly resents him and, fueled by dark powers, plans to take over. Kunimatsu unleashes a wave of demons, shattering the peace and throwing Japan into chaos. With the help of a powerful spirit named Kusanagi, Takechiyo must travel through time to save his country and fulfill his destiny as shogun.
Nioh 3 takes players on an expansive journey through different periods and locations in Japanese history, bigger than any previous game in the series. You’ll explore iconic places like Edo Castle, the Totomi region during the Warring States period, and Kyoto during the Heian period. For the first time, the game also includes the Bakumatsu period, and allows you to freely roam these beautifully realized environments as open fields.
Nioh 3 lets you switch between two different fighting styles – Samurai and Ninja – right in the middle of combat. The Samurai style keeps the core Nioh fighting feel while adding a new system to make your martial arts even stronger. Plus, a new Deflect move lets you block attacks at the last second, giving you an edge against tough enemies.
Unlike the Samurai Style, the Ninja Style focuses on quick movements and dodging. Players can jump and attack from the air, and use special Ninja techniques to strike from a distance. The Mist technique creates a temporary afterimage to confuse enemies, and the Evade technique helps players narrowly avoid attacks. Together, these abilities let players outsmart and quickly defeat opponents, often striking from behind.
The game is available for purchase now in several editions. The Standard Edition includes just the main game, while the Digital Deluxe Edition comes with special in-game items and a Season Pass for two upcoming downloadable content packs. A physical SteelBook Launch Edition is also offered, featuring a unique metal case. If you buy any version of the game early, you’ll receive a bonus available for a limited time on the PlayStation Store and Steam.
A special physical edition of the PlayStation 5 version of the game is available to order directly from the NIS America Store. This ‘Nioh 3 TREASURE BOX’ includes the game itself, plus a Scampuss Furball Keychain, a desk pad featuring original artwork, the official artbook, and a CD with the game’s soundtrack.
Nioh 3 is out now for PlayStation 5 and PC (through Steam)! You can also try a free demo on both platforms to get a taste of the game’s story.
