Below you’ll find the launch trailer with details from Koei Tecmo and Team Ninja.

Koei Tecmo and Team Ninja have launched Nioh 3, a dark and challenging samurai action RPG, for PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam. A new trailer showcases the intense battles and dangerous enemies players will encounter as they fight to overcome the challenges of the Crucible.

Nioh 3 puts you in the role of Tokugawa Takechiyo, a young man destined to become shogun during a peaceful time in Japan. However, his younger brother, Tokugawa Kunimatsu, driven by envy and dark powers, schemes to take Takechiyo’s place. Kunimatsu unleashes a wave of monsters, shattering the peace and throwing Japan into chaos. With the help of a powerful spirit named Kusanagi, Takechiyo must travel through time to save his country and fulfill his destiny as shogun.

Nioh 3 expands the series’ scope with a sprawling story that takes place across multiple historical periods and locations, including Edo Castle, the Totomi region during the Warring States period, Kyoto during the Heian period, and, for the first time, the Bakumatsu period. Players can explore these eras in large, open environments with unique and beautiful scenery.

The game introduces two new combat styles – Samurai and Ninja – allowing players to switch between them on the fly. The Samurai style builds on the core combat experience of previous Nioh games, enhanced by a new system for improving Martial Arts. A new Deflect mechanic also lets players perfectly block attacks at the last second, potentially turning the tables on tough enemies.

Unlike the Samurai Style, the Ninja Style focuses on quickness and dodging. Players can move swiftly, jump into the air to attack, and use Ninjutsu skills to strike from a distance. It also includes the Mist technique, which creates a temporary afterimage to confuse enemies, and the Evade technique to help you barely avoid attacks. These abilities allow players to outsmart and overwhelm opponents with fast, surprising strikes from behind.

Players can get a feel for the full game with a free demo, offering both single-player and online multiplayer (up to three players) on PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam. You can create a custom character and experience the chaotic Warring States period, including a challenging boss battle against Jakotsu-baba. Plus, your progress in the demo will carry over to the full game! Complete the demo before February 15, 2026, and you’ll receive the exclusive Twin-Snake Helmet in the full game. Find more information about the demo on the official website.

The game is available for purchase now in several editions. The Standard Edition includes just the main game. If you choose the Digital Deluxe Edition, you’ll also receive special in-game items and a Season Pass giving you access to two future downloadable content packs. A physical SteelBook Launch Edition is also offered, featuring a unique metal case. No matter which version you buy, you’ll receive a bonus item if you purchase it soon after release from the PlayStation Store or Steam – this bonus is available for a limited time.

A special physical edition of the PlayStation 5 version of the game is available to order directly from the NIS America Store. This ‘Nioh 3 TREASURE BOX’ comes with the game itself, a Scampuss Furball Keychain, a Nioh 3 Desk Pad, an Artbook, and the game’s Soundtrack CD.
