Drop by drop, information about the potential Nintendo Switch 2 continues to seep out, with unconfirmed images of a retail model featuring detached Joy-Con controllers for the upcoming console surfacing online over the weekend. Moreover, enthusiasts claim they’ve identified an intriguing new feature in the new Joy-Cons – mouse functionality – upon close examination of the pictures.
Over the weekend, I stumbled upon three images on Reddit that seem to be leaks from a Chinese factory, showcasing a fresh design for the Switch 2 Joy-Cons. These controllers appear to sport a sleek black exterior with an eye-catching light-blue interior. Upon closer inspection, some dedicated fans speculate they’ve found an optical sensor on one side of the Joy-Con. If this is true, it would revolutionize the way we play Switch 2 games by allowing the controller to function like a PC mouse, offering a brand-new method of interaction!
Additionally, there are whispers that shipping data for the Switch 2 hints at this mouse-like functionality, as suggested in another Reddit post. Exciting times ahead for us gamers!

It seems that the latest Joy-con models feature an optical sensor resembling a computer mouse on their side, leading some to ponder whether they might function as a mouse.

If accurate, it means that Switch 2 wouldn’t be the initial portable gaming device to incorporate mouse-like functions as an integral part of the hardware. Instead, the Lenovo Legion Go, similar to the Switch, sports detachable controllers, with one of them being capable of functioning like a mouse.
Last month, a speculation surfaced that Nintendo’s forthcoming gaming device might actually bear the name Switch 2. This multi-functional system is said to employ magnetic Joy-Cons, a feature that was earlier hinted at for the console. The exact timeline for when Nintendo will formally reveal the Switch’s successor remains uncertain; however, it’s expected to happen before the end of March.
Last month, the sales figure of our switch console reached a staggering 46.6 million units in the United States, making it the second-highest selling system in U.S history. This achievement surpassed PS2’s record after the November data was tallied by Circana. However, Nintendo DS continues to hold the number one position.
