In January 2025, Nintendo officially revealed their successor to the Nintendo Switch, named the Nintendo Switch 2, following numerous speculations and leaks about the new hardware. The Japanese gaming company confirmed that a Nintendo Direct broadcast focusing on the Nintendo Switch 2 console is planned for April 2025, during which additional information such as its launch date, opening day games, and other details will be disclosed.
As a gamer, I’m thrilled about the unveiling of the Switch 2! Not only have they announced it, but they’ve also planned a Nintendo Switch 2 Experience in various cities across North America, the UK, Europe, Oceania, and Asia. Registration for this event is closed now, and it seems like I might be one of the lucky ones to get an email confirming or denying my participation at this hands-on event. Nintendo opened registrations for their upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 Experience events happening from January 17th to January 26th, 2025. To be eligible, participants needed a Nintendo account. The registration process resulted in a lottery where Nintendo picked several account holders who were “chosen to receive a ticket.
It wasn’t clear when confirmation emails would be sent out for Nintendo account holders regarding the Nintendo Switch 2 Experience; however, multiple online posts suggest that this has happened, with some individuals finding out if they were selected or not to attend in their chosen city. There have been expressions of both excitement and disappointment about the confirmation news, but Nintendo has announced that those whose applications were denied may get a second chance to participate in the event if cancellations occur, starting from January 29th, 2025. Additionally, a Waitlist feature will be accessible from that date.
